Welcome
Welcome to the website of The Hampton John Peters Humphrey Foundation. It is a website that tells the story of an outstanding Canadian, of his achievements on the world stage, particularly in shaping the first draft of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, and of his humble beginnings in Hampton, New Brunswick, Canada.
In a letter to the Town of Hampton in 1998, Dr. Margaret Kunstler, John Humphrey’s now deceased widow, urged the community of Hampton to significantly recognize the life and accomplishments of its native son. So began the evolution of The Hampton John Peters Humphrey Foundation.
In October 2000 the Foundation became incorporated as a not-for-profit entity. Its mandate is to find appropriate ways for the community of Hampton to honour and continue the legacy of John Humphrey.
Mission
To provide an ongoing tribute to John Peters Humphrey by educating individuals of all ages about his life and accomplishments; to provide a venue to learn about Humphrey and his work; and to educate people about human rights issues.
